WHAT IS ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUES?

Active Release Techniques  (ART) is a patented, hands-on, soft tissue treatment that locates and breaks down the scar tissue and adhesions, which cause pain, stiffness, weakness, numbness, and physical dysfunction. ART is used both for the treatment of acute and chronic injuries and for the improvement of athletic performance. (*Abelson and Abelson, Release Your Pain).

WHAT ART IS NOT:

It is not chiropractic. (They work extremely well together)

It is not massage therapy. (They work well together)

It is not physical therapy. (They work well together)

It is not surgery.

GOAL OF ART:

  1. To restore optimal soft tissue movement.
